Why doesn't the sTEM Wi-Fi network show up on my phone or tablet?

After powering on, the unit needs a couple of minutes for its Wi-Fi network to become visible. Confirm that all units are powered on, that Wi-Fi is enabled on your mobile device, and that you refresh the network list. If it’s still not appearing, move closer to the unit or restart it via the power button.

What does the GPS lock indicator mean, and what if it stays off?

The third LED on the sTEM unit blinks when it has a GPS lock. Acquiring a GPS lock can take a few minutes after powering on. Ensure that the case with the GPS antenna at the top is positioned upward and has a clear view of the sky. If GPS is still unavailable, the system will use your mobile device’s GPS location instead, or you can add the position manually later.

My LM/HM current readings are unstable or outside the green zone. What should I do?

Stop the measurement and check the following:
  • The Tx coil connection to the sTEM unit is clean and securely connected.
  • The battery charge level is sufficient (replace batteries if necessary).
  • For the 80 × 80 m Tx coil configuration, verify that all corner connections between the cable drums are secure.

How close can I survey to power lines, fences, or other infrastructure?

Nearby man-made conductive objects can couple with the transmitted electromagnetic field and distort the measured data.
The magnitude of the coupling depends primarily on:
a) The size and geometry of the conductive object.
b) The distance between the transmitter/receiver and the conductive object.

As a general rule:
Compact coil configurations → shorter safety distances.
Larger transmitter loops → longer safety distances.
Conductive ground (strong signal) → shorter safety distances.
Resistive ground (weak signal) → longer safety distances.
Because coupling effects depend on many factors, it is impossible to define an exact safety distance.
The following values should therefore only be used as a rule of thumb (measured from the closest side of the transmitter coil):
sTEM unit with central loop configuration: approximately 100-200 m
sTEM Profiler: approximately 25–50 m

Why isn't my real-time inversion model showing up?

A grey model bar indicates that the inversion is running, but the data quality is insufficient, or there are not enough valid data points to generate a model.
A completely blank window usually indicates that the inversion function is not active.
First, verify that:
  • Real-time inversion is enabled in the Settings menu.
  • Your Premium Features License is active (visible under About).

Can TEMcompany access the data on my instruments?

No, TEMcompany cannot access any data on your instruments without you giving us explicit permission to do so.
